How to Tag Places on Google Maps
With over 2 billion monthly users, Google Maps has made navigating roads, traffic, and local businesses much easier than before. It’s an essential tool for finding new places and saving your favorite locations. One unique feature of Google Maps is the ability to tag places. This article will provide a step-by-step guide on how to tag places using Google Maps.
Step 1: Open Google Maps
Get started by launching the Google Maps application on your smartphone or accessing maps.google.com on your desktop browser.
Step 2: Search for the Place
If you have a specific place in mind, simply type its name or address into the search bar and hit enter. The map will then redirect to the location you’ve searched for.
Step 3: Select the Place
Once you’ve found your desired place, tap or click on its marker or name in the search results. This opens up more detailed information.
Step 4: Access the “Save” Option
Look for the Save button to reveal several options on how you’d like to tag this location. On mobile devices, it usually appears as a bookmark icon, whereas, on a desktop browser, you’ll find it as a button labeled “Save.”
Step 5: Choose Your Tag Categories
After clicking on Save, you’ll see a set of categories such as “Want to go,” “Starred places,” and “Favorites.” You can create custom lists too by choosing “New list” or selecting an existing list in which to add the location.
Step 6: Create Custom Lists (Optional)
If you wish to create a custom list for tagging locations, simply choose “New list” and then give it a name and description. You can also set its visibility to private or public for sharing purposes.
Step 7: Adding Notes (Optional)
For personalized touch-ups or reminders related to that specific place, you can add notes. Simply click on “Add note” or “Add a private note” and type in your message.
Step 8: Confirm Your Tagging
Double-check if you’ve successfully tagged the place by going to the “Your Places” or “Saved” tab in the menu. The newly tagged place should appear under the category or custom list you’ve chosen.
Step 9: Share Your Tagged Places with Friends (Optional)
To share your tagged location, tap or click on the sharing button (usually shaped like a share icon) and send it via email or social media platforms.
With these steps, you can now easily save, tag and organize locations on Google Maps. Whether it’s for personal use or sharing with friends and family, tagging places will undeniably make your Google Maps experience more enjoyable and efficient. Happy tagging!
