How to Turn on Picture in Picture on Microsoft Edge
Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode allows users to overlay a small video player on top of other windows, providing the convenience of multi-tasking while watching a video. Here’s how to turn on Picture in Picture in Microsoft Edge:
- Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to the website that is playing the video you want to watch in PiP mode. This feature works on sites like YouTube, Vimeo, and others that support HTML5 video playback.
- When you find the video, start playing it.
- Right-click on the video. In some cases, especially on YouTube, you need to right-click twice as the first click brings up the proprietary video menu.
- A menu will pop up with several options; look for “Picture in Picture” or an option that includes “PiP” or “mini-player”. Click on this option.
- The video will pop out in a small always-on-top window that can be dragged anywhere on your screen.
- To resize the PiP window, click and drag one of the corners.
- If you want to go back to normal view or close Picture in Picture mode, you can either close the mini-player window or click on the restore button (usually looks like two arrows forming a square) found in the PiP window itself.
Keep in mind that this feature may be subject to changes with updates to Microsoft Edge, so if these steps don’t work due to version changes, check Microsoft’s support documentation for any updates on using Picture in Picture mode.
