How to Core a Tomato: 11 Steps

Step 1: Gather your supplies
To core a tomato, you will need a cutting board, a sharp paring knife, and a spoon.
Step 2: Wash the tomatoes
Before coring the tomatoes, make sure to wash them under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Gently rub their surface to clean them thoroughly.
Step 3: Place the tomato on the cutting board
Position the tomato with its stem end facing upwards on the cutting board. This will ensure that you have a stable base for coring.
Step 4: Hold the tomato firmly
Hold the tomato steady with your non-dominant hand by placing your fingertips on either side of the stem. Be sure to keep your fingers away from the area where you’ll be making cuts.

Step 10: Rinse the cored tomato
Rinse the tomato under cold water one last time to dislodge any loose seeds or remaining core material and then pat dry with a paper towel.
