How to Hypnotize a Chicken: 10 Steps
Hypnotizing a chicken may sound like a strange or comical idea, but it’s actually an easy-to-learn method that many farmers and pet owners use to calm their chickens for various reasons. Chickens can become agitated when they are moved or handled, so knowing how to hypnotize your chicken can be useful in handling them safely. In this article, we will walk you through ten simple steps on how to hypnotize a chicken.
1. Approach the chicken calmly: Move towards the chicken slowly and gently, trying not to startle it. Speak softly or make soothing noises to help the chicken feel more at ease.
2. Catch the chicken: Carefully catch the chicken by approaching it from behind and placing your hands under its wings and around its body securely.
3. Find a surface: Locate a surface that is flat, stable, and free from distractions like other animals or loud noises. Ideally, this should be someplace where the chicken feels comfortable and safe.
4. Secure the chicken: Hold the chicken’s wings close to its body but not too tight—enough to remain firmly in place but not so much as to hurt the bird.
5. Place the chicken on its side: Gently lay down the chicken on its side with its legs extended outwards on the chosen surface.
6. Choose an object for fixation: Pick an object that is thin and straight, like a stick or your finger.
7. Draw a line in front of the chicken’s beak: Place your chosen object near the tip of the chicken’s beak and draw it outwards, approximately six inches away from its head while maintaining its focus on the line.
8. Repeat drawing: If necessary, repeat drawing lines in front of the chicken until it becomes still and appears mesmerized or hypnotized by following your object with its eyes.
9. Wait: When the chicken’s gaze is locked, stop moving the object and wait for a few moments. The chicken will enter a trance-like state, appearing to be hypnotized. This may last anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes.
10. Gently wake the chicken: When you’re ready to snap your chicken out of its hypnotic state, gently tap on its back or lightly blow air on its face. The chicken will awaken and return to its normal state of activity almost immediately.
Hypnotizing a chicken may seem like an odd task, but it’s an effective way to keep your bird calm when handling or moving them from one place to another. Make sure you always treat your chickens with care and respect during this process and utilize it only when necessary for their well-being.
