The automotive world has been buzzing about the recently unveiled 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, which is set to make its official debut in dealerships soon. As it turns out, the larger and more upscale sibling of the popular Toyota Highlander doesn’t cost much more than its smaller counterpart.
The Grand Highlander, which offers seating for up to eight passengers, is positioned above the standard Highlander in Toyota’s lineup. Its extended wheelbase and increased length provide additional space for passengers and cargo. However, despite its bigger size and upgraded features, the price difference between the two models is surprisingly small.
Initial pricing for the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander starts at $43,895 for the base L trim with front-wheel drive. On the other hand, a similar entry-level 2022 Toyota Highlander L has a starting price of $36,275. This means that there’s only a price difference of $7,620 between the two models.
The higher trims of the Grand Highlander show a similar trend in pricing compared to their respective trims in the regular Highlander. The mid-range LE trim begins at $46,115 for the Grand Highlander while it costs $38,515 for its regular-sized counterpart. With just $7,600 separating these two variants, it simply proves that upgrading to the larger SUV doesn’t break the bank.
All 2024 Toyota Grand Highlanders come powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard across all trims while an all-wheel drive configuration is available as an optional extra.
When it comes to features and amenities offered in both models, there’s plenty to be excited about in both Highlanders. Both SUVs are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, which includes advanced safety and driver-assist features such as Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, and Road Sign Assist. Other notable features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander offers a more premium and spacious experience with additional upgrades in the form of standard LED headlights, a power liftgate, and optional captain’s chairs for the second row. These features make the bigger SUV a more enticing option for those who require extra space.
For those interested in purchasing a Highlander for themselves or their family, the new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander serves as an attractive alternative that doesn’t cost drastically more than the regular Highlander.
