Texting yourself can be a surprisingly effective way to send reminders, notes, or even test notifications. For iPhone or iPad users, Apple’s iMessage service offers a simple way to do this. Here are three ways to send text messages to yourself using iMessage:
1. Send a message to your own phone number: Open the Messages app and start a new conversation. In the “To:” field, type your own phone number or tap your number if it appears in the suggestions. Type your message and hit send.
2. Use your email address associated with iMessage: If you’ve set up an Apple ID email address with iMessage, you can send a message to that email. Open Messages, create a new message, and instead of entering a phone number, input your Apple ID email. This method allows you to receive messages on any device where you’re signed into iMessage with that email.
3. Create a group chat with only yourself: Start a new group message and add only yourself to the group using either your phone number or Apple ID email. This creates a thread that’s easy to find and potentially separates messages you send to yourself from your regular text conversations.
By using one of these methods, you can quickly send notes, links, or reminders to yourself whenever necessary.
