3 Ways to Fold Sheets
Organizing your linen closet can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to folding sheets. With so many different types and sizes of sheets, finding the best way to fold them can be challenging. However, neatly folded sheets not only make your linen closet look neat and tidy, but they also save space and make it easier to find the exact sheet you’re looking for. Here are three easy methods to assist you in folding your sheets effectively.
1. The Classic Fold:
This method is simple and suitable for all types of sheets, whether fitted or flat.
Step 1: Lay the sheet flat on a large surface, such as a bed or the floor.
Step 2: For fitted sheets, tuck the corners into each other with the right side of the sheet facing upwards.
Step 3: Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, bringing together all four corners.
Step 4: Fold in half again widthwise this time.
Step 5: Depending on the size of the sheet, fold once or twice more until you have an even rectangular shape.
2. The Rectangular Fold:
This method is particularly useful for fitted sheets with bulky elastic as it reduces wrinkles and makes for a more polished appearance.
Step 1: Lay the fitted sheet flat on a large surface, ensuring that the elastic edges are facing up.
Step 2: Fold each corner of the sheet towards the center so that they meet in a straight line creating a rectangle.
Step 3: Smooth out any wrinkles formed by the elastic before folding.
Step 4: Fold in half widthwise creating two long sides.
Step 5: Fold once more lengthwise until you achieve a compact rectangle shape.
3. The Bundle Technique:
This innovative fold is excellent for storing sets of matching linens together and maximizing available storage space.
Step 1: Lay out each piece of the sheet set flat, including the pillowcases.
Step 2: Start with the fitted sheet and fold it into a rectangle using either the classic or rectangular fold method. Place it on one of the pillowcases, aligning it to one of the edges.
Step 3: Fold the top sheet in half widthwise and place it on top of the folded fitted sheet.
Step 4: Roll up both sheets together, keeping them compact and tight like a bundle. As you reach the end, place the other pillowcase beneath the bundle.
Step 5: Fold the loose ends of the bottom pillowcase over the bundle, tucking them inside to secure everything tightly.
By mastering these three folding techniques, you’ll be able to keep your linen closet organized, minimize creases in your sheets, and quickly locate your desired bedding items. No more wrestling with tangled sheets when putting away laundry!
