3 Ways to Access Multitasking on an iPhone
Multitasking has become an indispensable feature of smartphones, including the iPhone. Apple has continuously refined and improved multitasking capabilities in its iOS over the years, allowing users to switch between apps quickly and efficiently. In this article, we will look at three different ways to access multitasking on your iPhone.
1. Double press the Home button (for iPhones with a Home button)
For those who own an iPhone model with a physical Home button, such as the iPhone 6s, 7, or 8 series, accessing multitasking is quite simple. All you need to do is double-press the Home button quickly. Your screen will display an overview of all open apps in a carousel-style format. From there, you can swipe left or right to find the app you want to switch to and tap on it.
2. Swipe up from the bottom (for iPhones without a Home button)
If you’re using a more recent iPhone model that doesn’t have a Home button (like the iPhone X series or newer), you can still access multitasking easily. To do so, place your finger on the bottom edge of your screen – where the gesture bar is – and swipe up slightly until you see a preview of your open apps appear. Then lift your finger off the screen without completing a full swipe up motion (which would take you to your Home screen). The open apps will now be displayed in an app-switching mode, allowing you to swipe through and select the desired app.
3. Use AssistiveTouch
AssistiveTouch is an accessibility feature designed for people with physical motor limitations but can be useful for anyone who wants an alternative way of accessing their iPhone’s features without relying on gestures or buttons. To enable AssistiveTouch, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch and toggle it on.
Once AssistiveTouch is enabled, a floating button will appear on your screen. When you tap this button, a menu with various options will show up. To access multitasking, tap the AssistiveTouch button > Device > More > Multitasking. Your open apps will be displayed in the app-switching mode, where you can swipe to find and select the app you want to switch to.
In conclusion, multitasking on an iPhone has been designed to be easily accessible through different methods depending on the device model and user preferences. Double-pressing the Home button for older models or swiping up from the bottom for newer iPhones without a Home button will bring up the task-switching mode with ease. Alternatively, leveraging AssistiveTouch can provide even more customization for those who want a unique way of accessing multitasking features.
